Welcome to MUCH

MUCH members meeting in a cafe

Our ambition is to create the first cohousing community for people aged over 50 in Manchester – a place that helps us to live long, healthy and fulfilling lives, supporting each other as we grow older.

Cohousing is a way of living that brings together people with common aims to share facilities while still enjoying their own self-contained accommodation

Our members will help turn our vision into reality. We want to make the cohousing attractive to people of all backgrounds, and believe cohousing can provide a positive personal choice for older people in Manchester

Our plans

Our community will consist of around 20 homes for up to 30 people with communal facilities. We will make it easy to live a low carbon lifestyle which also meets our future mobility and other needs

Still Interested?

If you’d like to find out more, please start by reading through the material on this website. Take a look at the national UK Cohousing website which explains more about the general principles of cohousing. It also has a directory of projects around the UK, and some short videos to watch.

If you’re interested in joining, or knowing more, please get in touch with us.
We will be happy to discuss ideas and to arrange to meet you if you are interested in becoming part of MUCH.

COVID has taught me that the most important relationships are friendships. Home is refuge but can be isolating unless we create spaces for meeting and sharing”

Living in a well-insulated warm home designed for current life-styles but with reduced energy use & consideration of our carbon footprint is a very attractive prospect”

The social benefits of Senior CoHousing are attractive to me, whilst being able to share responsibilities and resources, and decision-making about the building & community
